For years, video was the most expensive asset in fashion content: model, studio, styling and a production day that only stretched to the hero campaign pieces. The rest of the catalogue stayed as a still. AI video changes that equation: a well-built still can become a runway walk, a fabric detail in motion, or a full editorial scene. Every reference can move, not just the campaign pieces.
But there is one constraint that does not negotiate: the garment is the product. The print, the drape, the colour and the construction have to stay exactly faithful in every frame. That rules out pure text-to-video for the clothing itself and makes image-to-video (starting from a real photo or a still generated with judgement) the mandatory starting point.
With that constraint up front, the question that really matters changes.
THE QUESTION IS NOT WHICH VIDEO MODEL IS THE MOST POWERFUL. IT IS WHICH ONE UNDERSTANDS HOW A FABRIC DRAPES WITHOUT INVENTING THE GARMENT.
In 2026, several models coexist with different strengths, and none wins at everything. Kling stands out in fabric physics and runway motion: silks that flow with weight, pleats that move independently, structured garments that hold shape through a turn. Veo leads in narrative editorial scenes, with natural human motion and scene lighting, useful for telling a full campaign story. Sora offers the most ambitious art direction for high-concept pieces (impossible worlds, dreamlike transitions), but on close-up garment-detail fidelity several independent sources place it behind Kling, so it is best kept for wide shots and the close-up fabric shot left to another model. And among the Chinese models, Seedance stands out in social volume and in keeping the identity of a single brand model consistent across many clips, which is especially useful for animating a whole catalogue and not just a campaign.
None of this data is definitive. The generative video field changes with almost monthly updates, so any ranking has a short shelf life. What is stable is the judgement: choosing according to what that specific shot needs (fabric motion, narrative, concept or volume), not according to what sounds newest this week.
Whatever the model, quality control does not change: check frame by frame that the print, the color and the closures stay faithful, and regenerate where it fails. And with the transparency obligations of the European AI Act already in motion, labelling AI-generated content stops being optional.
